What Is Claude AI, What Does It Cost, How to Use It From Turkey?

12 min readPublished: Updated:

Claude is an AI assistant and family of language models built by the AI company Anthropic. It answers questions in conversation, writes text, generates code, and analyzes documents. It competes directly with ChatGPT. The short pricing answer, as of October 2026: there is a free tier, Pro costs $20 a month ($17 a month if you pay $200 up front for the year), Max starts at $100 a month, and Team and Enterprise are priced per seat. Prices exclude tax. Source: claude.com/pricing, read on 13 October 2026.

In Turkey, where I work from, the same plan costs different amounts depending on where you buy it. On the App Store, Pro is 999.99 TL a month and Max 5x is 6,999.99 TL, tax included. On the web you pay the dollar price plus 20% Turkish VAT: about 1,184 TL for Pro and about 5,920 TL for Max 5x at the 12 October 2026 central bank rate. So Pro is cheaper on the App Store and Max is cheaper on the web. Claude Code has no separate price; it comes with Pro and Max. Details and sources are below.

Claude AI pricing: plans compared

As of October 2026, per claude.com/pricing (prices shown exclude applicable tax and can change at Anthropic’s discretion):

PlanPriceWhat changes
Free$0Chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, Artifacts, up to 5 Projects; Sonnet and Haiku models
Pro$20/month, or $17/month billed as $200 per yearMore usage (at least 5x Free per session), Claude Code, unlimited Projects, Research, Opus models
MaxFrom $100/month (5x or 20x Pro usage)Higher output limits, priority access at peak times, monthly API credits ($100 to $200 depending on tier), Fable included at 50% of weekly limits
Team (2 to 150 seats)Standard seat: $25/month, or $20 billed annually. Premium seat (5x Standard usage): $125/month, or $100 annuallyCentral billing, SSO, shared admin controls, up to $500/month in pooled API credits
EnterpriseSelf-serve: $20/seat/month billed annually, plus usage at API ratesEverything in Team plus SCIM, role-based access, audit logs, custom data retention

The official page shows Max 5x at $100 a month. It does not state the Max 20x subscription price in text (only its $200 monthly API credit), so I do not quote one here.

How the limits work. There is no fixed message count. Usage resets on a rolling five-hour window, paid plans also have weekly limits, and web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code all draw from the same pool. A single long document uses more of your allowance than ten short messages. When you hit a limit on Pro or Max you can wait, upgrade, or keep going with usage credits billed at API rates.

Team or separate Pro seats? For three people on monthly billing, three Pro subscriptions cost $60 and three Team Standard seats cost $75. The extra $15 buys central billing, admin controls and pooled API credits. If everyone works alone, separate Pro seats are enough.

Claude API pricing: what an agent costs

If you connect Claude to your own software or an agent, you pay for the API instead of a subscription, billed per token. As of October 2026, per million tokens (claude.com/pricing, read 13 October 2026):

ModelInputOutput
Fable 5.1$10$50
Opus 5.5$4$20
Sonnet 5.5$2$10
Haiku 5.5 (prompts up to 100K tokens)$0.10$0.50

Batch processing is 50% cheaper, and Opus 5.5 “fast mode” costs twice the standard rate. Web search through the API is $10 per 1,000 searches on top of tokens, and Managed Agents add $0.08 per active session-hour. Output tokens cost five times as much as input tokens, so the text the model writes usually drives an agent’s bill. I walk through a sample calculation in what a token is and how AI usage cost is calculated.

What you pay for Claude in Turkey

Turkey is on Anthropic’s supported countries list, so there is no sign-up restriction and no VPN is needed. You can register with an email or Google account in a few minutes. The free tier needs no card. A paid plan needs a credit or debit card that allows international online payments, and some Turkish banks keep that switched off by default.

There are two ways to pay:

  • App Store (in lira, tax included). As of October 2026 the App Store Türkiye listing shows Pro at 999.99 TL a month (11,999.99 TL a year), Max 5x at 6,999.99 TL and Max 20x at 12,999.99 TL a month. The annual Pro price is just 12 months of the monthly price, so it saves nothing.
  • Web (in dollars, plus Turkish VAT). You pay the dollar price on claude.com. Tax is added on top and is calculated from your billing address. Turkey’s standard VAT rate is 20%. Your bank then converts the dollars at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee.

I used the Central Bank of Turkey’s 12 October 2026 USD selling rate of 49.3358 TL and assumed 20% VAT:

PlanApp Store TurkeyWeb (dollars plus VAT)Cheaper
Pro, monthly999.99 TLabout 1,184 TLApp Store
Pro, annual11,999.99 TLabout 11,841 TLWeb, by about 160 TL a year
Max 5x6,999.99 TLabout 5,920 TLWeb, by about 1,080 TL a month

The Max 5x gap is roughly 13,000 TL a year for an identical plan. This is an estimate: your bank’s rate will differ, and your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee on top; check the rate in your card agreement.

A mistake I made myself: I subscribed to Max from my phone. Prices in the App Store rose on 1 July 2026 (Pro from 799.99 to 999.99 TL, Max 5x from 4,999.99 to 6,999.99 TL), and because I joined before that I still pay 4,999.99 TL a month for Max 5x. Anyone starting today gets the opposite result: subscribe to Max in a browser and to Pro on the phone.

Cancelling and refunds. Cancel through the same channel you bought from: account settings on the web, your device’s subscription settings on iPhone and iPad, or Google Play on Android. Per claude.com/pricing, payments are generally non-refundable unless the consumer terms or local law say otherwise. A 14-day withdrawal period is spelled out for the EEA and UK, but I found no separate Turkey rule. App Store refunds go through Apple, Google Play refunds through Claude Support, and web purchases through Anthropic. How a Turkish business should book the invoice is a question for your accountant.

What Claude is good for

Five tasks a business owner can use in the first week:

  • Quotes. Paste your price list and what the client asked for, and get a first draft. Check the numbers yourself.
  • Customer emails. Paste a complaint and ask for a reply that offers a fix without getting defensive.
  • Spreadsheet commentary. Upload a monthly sales CSV and ask which product is declining.
  • Product descriptions. It turns a spec list into store copy, though outputs start to sound alike on long lists.
  • Contract summaries. Upload a PDF and ask for the obligations and termination terms. That is a reading list, not legal advice.

Beyond chat, Claude Skills let you describe a recurring job once, such as an SEO audit or a code review checklist, and have Claude apply it again later. It turns Claude from a chatbot you re-brief every time into an assistant that remembers your procedures.

Claude vs ChatGPT

My own choice is Claude. For long, text-heavy and technical work such as document analysis and code, it gives me the consistency I am after, and it has not let me down. That is my experience as a paying user, not a neutral benchmark.

CriterionClaudeChatGPT
Long document and code analysisStrong consistency over long contextStrong, expands with plugins
Image generationNone. It reads images you upload but does not create themBuilt in
Agents and automationClaude Code, Skills, MCPIts own GPTs and agents
EcosystemGrowing, developer-focusedWider, more third-party integrations

If image generation is central to your work, that row settles it. For a fuller side-by-side, see Claude or ChatGPT.

Turkish quality. Claude’s Turkish is good but not native-level. It is fluent for everyday writing, summaries and email drafts. On long, multi-clause text or very local idioms it is less natural than its English, so I always proofread critical client content myself. Output is noticeably stronger in English.

How I use Claude in my work

I manage Google Ads accounts on my own. For the routine checks, such as budget deviation, broken conversion tracking and weak keywords, agents read the data through the Google Ads API and Meta’s official MCP connection; the scanning, comparison and first diagnosis happen in the agents. I review the findings and I make the decision on any change. This site itself is built with Claude’s help: content drafts, SEO audits and before/after checks on technical changes. I direct the work and make the final call.

You can ask me for this work

Typical engagements for this kind of work run 2 hours to 2 weeks, remote, billed hourly. That can mean automating a single repetitive process, or setting up Claude for a whole team through ChatGPT and Claude setup and training for your company. Write to me and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right fit, then send a written scope and price.

Does Claude AI support Turkish?

Yes. It is fluent for everyday use but less native than its English, especially on long and complex text, where a final human proofread helps.

How do you sign up for Claude AI from Turkey?

Data freshness note: Plan and API prices were read from claude.com/pricing and the App Store Türkiye listing on 13 October 2026. The lira conversions use the Central Bank of Turkey’s 12 October 2026 USD selling rate of 49.3358. Anthropic changes prices and limits, Apple updates store prices periodically (the last Turkish increase was 1 July 2026), and exchange rates move. Check the amount on your own screen before you buy.
