Showing Instagram Ads to People Who Visited My Site

2 min read19 August 2026

A visitor who lands on your site and leaves without doing anything isn’t lost — you can reach them again on Instagram. The only requirement is a working Meta pixel on your site.

Pixel first, audience second

If the pixel is missing or misconfigured, the audience simply never fills — and this usually gets noticed weeks later. The first check after setup should be: is the pixel actually recording page views, and are add-to-cart and purchase firing as separate events?

Split visitors by behaviour

When “everyone who visited” is a single audience, the message is forced to stay generic. The meaningful splits are:

  • Homepage-only visitors — interest still unclear
  • Visitors to a specific product or service page — the topic is now defined
  • Add-to-cart abandoners — the warmest audience, covered separately here
  • People who already purchased — these should be excluded, otherwise you pay to advertise to your own customer

The message should match the page

Someone who looked at your pricing page and left shouldn’t see the same ad as someone who read a blog post. The first responds to something that resolves hesitation (returns, guarantee, instalments); the second to content explaining what the service actually is.

How we start. We first look at what your pixel is recording, then work out which pages deserve their own audience. Reach out via the contact page.

Frequently Asked Questions

My site is new with little traffic. Does this still work?

Serving doesn’t begin until the audience threshold is met. On low traffic, keep the audience broad (all visitors, long window) and split it as volume arrives.

Does Instagram or Google work better?

They catch different moments: Google remarketing reaches people while they search, Instagram while they browse a feed. With enough budget, running both performs better.

Is it different if I sell products?

Yes — dynamic remarketing, which shows the exact product they viewed, performs noticeably better in that case.

WHAT YOU CAN ASK FOR

How do I work?
Work-hour packages

Tell me about your website and what you need on WhatsApp or by phone; we agree on a work block of somewhere between 5 and 40 hours and I start doing what is needed. What you get is not a calendar window — it is net working hours spent directly on your business. I can use 40 hours working three days straight, or deliberately spread it out and finish it over a year — whatever the work calls for. I do not spend my time estimating how long something will take, I spend it doing the work; every hour I spend has a lasting result on your site. We keep going for as long as you find it useful.

WORK BLOCKS

Why not monthly?
Is 40 hours a week?

On a fixed monthly fee both sides are watching the wrong thing: you watch a fixed cost, the other side watches how many more contracts like this they can line up. Working by the hour puts us both in front of the same thing — the real value of the work that got done. I know not having an upfront answer to "how much will this cost in total?" is the natural cost of this model. But instead of paying a fixed fee for months to a setup that is not producing results, you only pay for the qualified time spent on your work — and you see exactly where that time went, start to finish. That is why my clients keep coming back.
