New Hire Onboarding Package | Fast Ramp-Up
When a new employee starts, the first week is usually wasted: it’s unclear who they’ll learn what from, tool access gets explained verbally, and the same questions get asked over and over with every new hire. This is stressful for the new person and eats into the existing team’s time.
The onboarding package puts this into a written system: a day-one welcome document, a first-week training plan, checklists. The new employee knows what they’ll learn and when, and the team doesn’t have to repeat the same explanation every single time.
A Natural Extension of the Employee Handbook
If you have a company handbook (or we’re building it together), the onboarding package summarizes that information for someone just starting. The handbook covers all processes, while the onboarding package focuses on the question “what do you need on day one, in week one?”
Preparing both documents together makes them both more consistent and more economical, since the source information is already gathered.
What It Typically Includes
A typical package covers: company and team introduction, steps to access the tools you use, a first-week to-do list, a plan for who to learn what from, frequently asked questions. This list gets shorter or longer depending on your company’s size.
The goal is for the new employee to start day one “knowing what to do” — this makes a real difference for both morale and productivity.
Who Builds It, Who Updates It
I build the first version working with you directly. After that, as the team grows or processes change, it needs updating — you can either do that yourself or leave it to me as a periodic update.
How do we start? First, a free 20-30 minute preliminary call. We talk about what you want and what’s realistic. If it makes sense, I send scope and price in writing, then we start. Reach me via the contact page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this necessary for a small team (3-5 people)?
Even in small teams, the same information gets explained verbally over and over every time someone new joins. Even a short, simple package saves time — the size just scales to your team.
Are you using a ready-made template?
No, I don’t use a ready-made template, because generic templates don’t reflect your actual processes. I build the content from scratch around your business.
Does this include video training?
The base package consists of written documents. If you want, we can combine it with my training video scripting and presentation service to add visual training material as well.
How long does it take to put together?
If it’s built alongside the employee handbook, the process moves together with it; if it’s built on its own, it usually takes close to a week.
