Your daily garden

A new seedling starts each local day. Completed small pieces earn 100 points each; the first eight water entries contribute 2 points each. Points grow the flower and side vines and open blossoms. Undoing or removing an entry updates the score. This is not a water intake target. Turn the garden off in Settings → Widgets. Garden progress is calculated only from local records; no score is sent to the developer.

Golden Prompts and web search

Golden Prompts is a bundled prompt library. Version 1.3.2 supports 22 languages. Copying a prompt only writes it to your clipboard; it does not contact an AI service. The separate Google and YouTube search buttons send only the query you explicitly submit to the chosen website, whose privacy policy applies. Typing alone sends no query. Searching saved links stays local.

Arrange your links

Add a group, then add links with a title and an HTTP or HTTPS address. Use the editing controls to rename, remove or reorder them. Search filters your local links; it does not send a web search.

Connect Chrome bookmarks

In the extension, choose the bookmark connection control and allow Chrome's optional permission prompt. Select the folders you want to display. They remain Chrome bookmarks: changing your manual groups does not change them. The website demo cannot access Chrome bookmarks.

Choose a theme

Open Settings → Appearance to choose a preset or custom colours. Version 1.3.2 adds four presets for a total of eleven. Low-contrast combinations may be difficult to read; use a preset to recover a readable appearance.

Back up or start again

Export a JSON backup before resetting or moving to another browser profile. Importing replaces your manual setup. Reconnect Chrome bookmark folders in the new profile. Reset affects Best New Tab data, not Chrome bookmarks.

Why is there a promotion?

The extension is free for life. Developer notes and service links appear in two columns at the bottom. They are plain text fetched from the developer website, are not personalised, and do not stop your links working when the network is unavailable.

Updates without moving your data

Tasks and notes stay local. Export and import JSON when you want to move them. Optional Chrome Sync can copy supported layout settings and links, while a separate optional DopaNudge account shares eligible point events, not task text. Neither is a complete task backup. A background check runs at most once every 24 hours and shows an update link only when a newer version and its approved Chrome Web Store listing are available. It does not send your installed version or setup. The link opens the store listing; Chrome handles actual extension updates separately. If you installed a local unpacked copy, the store link does not silently replace that copy.

Report a problem

Use the contact options on oguzerol.com and mention Best New Tab. Include your Chrome version, the action you took and what happened. Remove private links and notes from screenshots. Do not send your exported backup unless you have checked and removed sensitive content.
