Since most traffic does not buy on the first visit, this audience is usually the most efficient one in the account — because they already know you. ## Why it is efficient Advertising to a cold audience is expensive: first you have to get attention, then build trust, then persuade. With remarketing the first two steps have already happened. The person has seen your product, read your page, maybe added to cart. So the same budget can produce a higher conversion rate than with a cold audience. Some attributed conversions may come from people who would have returned anyway; the reported rate alone does not establish incremental sales. But this is not an automatic win. A badly built remarketing campaign follows the same person with the same image for weeks and turns them against the brand. Starting without setting limits turns the benefit into damage. ## Check remarketing eligibility in sensitive sectors first Health, alcohol, gambling, birth control, debt and relationship difficulties need a policy review before visitors are retargeted. The ad, landing page, country and audience must be assessed together. Access to a campaign type does not make every targeting method permissible in that sector. Checked on 24 October 2026, [Google’s sensitive-interest targeting policy](https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/143465) restricts advertiser-curated audiences for these categories. Religious, political and sexual content also requires a policy review. | Audience | Approach in sensitive categories | | --- | --- | | Website visitors, Customer Match, audience expansion and lookalikes | Advertiser-curated audience restrictions apply | | Predefined Google audiences, such as in-market and affinity segments | Check the category, country and other policy conditions separately | | Custom segments built from keywords or URLs | These do not provide a way around the restrictions on visitor lists | For example, [Google’s gambling-category guidance](https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/16701250?hl=en) distinguishes predefined audiences from advertiser-curated audiences. Custom segments using sensitive ads or landing pages may only serve on Display to non-sensitive audiences or contextually; other campaign types may be ineligible. This does not mean gambling or healthcare advertising is separately permitted in Turkey. Local rules and sector-specific policies also apply. Whatever the sector, visitor tags must not send personal details such as email addresses or phone numbers, or identify an excessively narrow individual or group. Privacy disclosures and required consent are part of the setup. Google’s [data collection and use policy](https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6020956?hl=en) is the other part of this check. When a policy restriction appears, I review targeting, ads and the destination together. Ineligible audiences are removed, actual content problems are corrected, and a mistaken classification can be appealed. If remarketing is unsuitable, Search or contextual options can be assessed after checking their eligibility separately. ## Splitting audiences properly Building a single “site visitors” audience and showing everyone the same ad is the most common mistake. How far a visitor got signals different intent: someone who saw the homepage and left is not the same person as one who added to cart and abandoned at checkout. I split audiences by behaviour: people who viewed a specific service page, added to cart without buying, opened a form without submitting, or previously became customers. Each gets a different message. Excluding existing customers is also missed in most accounts, so budget is spent on people who already bought. ## Frequency and duration limits Membership duration should match the message. For a fast-decision product a short window is enough, while long-cycle B2B services justify a longer one. Stretching the duration unnecessarily means paying to reach people whose interest has passed. Frequency capping protects brand perception directly. Showing the same person the same ad many times a day is not a reminder, it is an irritation. Setting the cap and rotating creative at intervals is what keeps the campaign viable long term. ## Dynamic remarketing In e-commerce, [dynamic remarketing](https://oguzerol.com/en/dynamic-remarketing/) shows people the exact product they looked at. This requires a [Google Shopping](https://oguzerol.com/en/google-shopping-ads/) feed and a correctly built measurement layer; if product IDs do not match between feed and site, the campaign stays empty. In every case the foundation is [conversion and audience measurement](https://oguzerol.com/en/ad-conversion-setup/). Audience lists are fed by the measurement layer; if that is broken, remarketing does not work either. **How do we start?** First I look at your existing audience lists and measurement setup, work out which audiences are actually populated and which are empty, and send you a priority order in writing. You can reach me from the [contact page](https://oguzerol.com/en/contact/). ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is there a minimum audience size for remarketing? Yes, Google requires a certain audience size before lists can serve, and the threshold varies by placement. On low-traffic sites the audience never fills so campaigns do not run; in that case the traffic side has to be solved first. ### Did cookie restrictions kill remarketing? They did not kill it, but they made it harder. Because of browser restrictions, audiences fill more slowly than they used to. In response, first-party data and server-side measurement have become the way to preserve audience quality. ### How long should I keep showing ads to the same person? It depends on your product’s decision cycle. The rule of thumb: if most conversions arrive within a certain number of days after the first visit, audience duration should sit slightly above that. Beyond it is usually waste. Work-hour packages Tell me about your business and what you need on WhatsApp or by phone; we agree on **a work block of somewhere between 5 and 40 hours** and I start doing what is needed. What you get is not a calendar window — it is net working hours spent directly on your business. I can use 40 hours working three days straight, or deliberately spread it out and finish it over a year — whatever the work calls for. I do not spend my time estimating how long something will take, I spend it doing the work; every hour I spend leaves a lasting result in your business. We keep going for as long as you find it useful. WORK BLOCKS ## Why not monthly? Is 40 hours a week? On a fixed monthly fee both sides are watching the wrong thing: you watch a fixed cost, the other side watches how many more contracts like this they can line up. Working by the hour puts us both in front of the same thing — the real value of the work that got done. I know not having an upfront answer to "how much will this cost in total?" is the natural cost of this model. But instead of paying a fixed fee for months to a setup that is not producing results, you only pay for the qualified time spent on your work — and you see exactly where that time went, start to finish. That is why my clients keep coming back. 5hours300€ + VAT60€ per hour[Choose this block](https://wa.me/905496546489?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20info%20about%20the%205-hour%20work%20block.) 10hours500€ + VAT50€ per hour[Choose this block](https://wa.me/905496546489?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20info%20about%20the%2010-hour%20work%20block.) 20hours800€ + VAT40€ per hour[Choose this block](https://wa.me/905496546489?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20info%20about%20the%2020-hour%20work%20block.) 40hours1,400€ + VAT35€ per hour[Choose this block](https://wa.me/905496546489?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20info%20about%20the%2040-hour%20work%20block.)
