# WooCommerce Google Ads Management | Feed and Tracking Setup

[Oğuz Erol](https://oguzerol.com/en/about-me/) | 3 min read

Unlike Shopify, WooCommerce leaves feed creation to a plugin — this offers flexibility but also makes plugin and configuration choice its own decision point. [A slow WooCommerce site](https://oguzerol.com/en/wordpress-speed-optimization/) also indirectly affects campaign performance; speed and ad management feed each other here.

## What I do and who it’s for

For WooCommerce stores that want to sell through Shopping or [Performance Max](https://oguzerol.com/en/what-is-performance-max/) in Google Ads. I choose and configure the feed plugin, connect Merchant Center, set up conversion tracking against your real checkout flow, and manage the campaigns.

## Steps

1. **Site review:** The theme, plugin combination, checkout structure and product catalog (number of variants, custom fields) are examined.
2. **Feed plugin:** A plugin is chosen based on catalog complexity; variations, categories and custom fields are mapped to the format Merchant Center expects. Google’s [product data specification](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112) is the reference for required fields.
3. **Merchant Center connection:** The site is verified, the feed connected, disapproved products fixed ([setup details](https://oguzerol.com/en/merchant-center-setup/)).
4. **Conversion tracking:** The purchase event is verified with a real test order, and value and currency are checked ([e-commerce conversion tracking](https://oguzerol.com/en/e-commerce-conversion-tracking/)). For the measurement logic see Google’s [conversion measurement page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1722022).
5. **Campaign setup:** Products are grouped by margin or sales performance, and a Shopping or Performance Max campaign is built.
6. **Monitoring:** Budget, spend per product and [feed quality](https://oguzerol.com/en/product-feed-optimization/) are watched regularly.

## Common mistakes

- Installing the plugin and leaving default settings; titles and categories never get edited.
- Variable products entering the feed as a single row: some variants never show in ads.
- Not testing the conversion tag even though checkout changes with the theme.
- Ignoring page speed: a slow product page makes every click more expensive.
- Stock sync breaking and spend going to out-of-stock products.

## WooCommerce-specific points to watch

Caching plugins and security layers can block the conversion tag on the thank-you page, so I confirm with a test order that this page isn’t cached and that the tag really fires. After a theme or plugin update, the feed and the tag need to be checked again. For variable products, giving each variation its own ID plus a shared item group ID, and using the same IDs in the feed and in conversion events, keeps the ad data consistent.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Which feed plugin do you recommend?

It depends on catalog size and variation complexity; simple plugins are enough for a small catalog, while large and complex catalogs may need a more capable solution.

### Does a slow site affect ad performance?

Yes, slow pages lower both [Quality Score](https://oguzerol.com/en/what-is-quality-score/) and conversion rate; [WooCommerce speed optimization](https://oguzerol.com/en/wordpress-speed-optimization/) shouldn’t be considered separately from ad management.

### Do ads stop automatically when stock runs out?

If the feed is configured correctly, yes — stock status syncs and the product leaves ads automatically, with no manual action needed.

### Do I need to change my current feed plugin?

Not always. First I check whether it passes product attributes and variations correctly; if the problem is a setting, fixing the setting is lower-risk than switching plugins.

WHAT YOU CAN ASK FOR

## How do I work?
Work-hour packages

Tell me about your business and what you need on WhatsApp or by phone; we agree on **a work block of somewhere between 5 and 40 hours** and I start doing what is needed. What you get is not a calendar window — it is net working hours spent directly on your business. I can use 40 hours working three days straight, or deliberately spread it out and finish it over a year — whatever the work calls for. I do not spend my time estimating how long something will take, I spend it doing the work; every hour I spend leaves a lasting result in your business. We keep going for as long as you find it useful.

WORK BLOCKS

## Why not monthly?
Is 40 hours a week?

On a fixed monthly fee both sides are watching the wrong thing: you watch a fixed cost, the other side watches how many more contracts like this they can line up. Working by the hour puts us both in front of the same thing — the real value of the work that got done. I know not having an upfront answer to "how much will this cost in total?" is the natural cost of this model. But instead of paying a fixed fee for months to a setup that is not producing results, you only pay for the qualified time spent on your work — and you see exactly where that time went, start to finish. That is why my clients keep coming back.
