The order of checks, Search Console statuses and the waiting times Google gives. “My site isn’t showing on Google” can be two different problems with different fixes: your site is **not in Google’s index at all**, or it is **indexed but doesn’t rank high for the search you’re trying**. Work out which one first; it takes a few minutes. If the site is new and went live a few days ago, there may be nothing wrong and you may just need to wait: Google says a new page can take “anywhere from a day or two to a few weeks” to get indexed ([Google Search Console Help](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7474347?hl=en), as of October 2026). ## First, find out which problem you have **1. Try `site:`.** Search Google for `site:yourdomain.com`. If results appear, the site is indexed and the issue is ranking. If nothing appears, it isn’t indexed. For one page, type `site:` followed by the page’s full address. Keep SafeSearch off, because the filter can hide results. **2. Confirm with URL Inspection in Search Console.** `site:` gives a rough view; the definitive answer comes from the **URL Inspection** tool in Search Console: does Google know this address, is it indexed, and if not, why. If you haven’t added the site to Search Console, that’s the first job (it’s free). Even when an address shows as “not indexed”, the content may be indexed under another address (the canonical version), and the tool shows that too. ## If it’s not indexed: causes and how to spot them | Cause | How to tell | What to do | | --- | --- | --- | | New site or page | “Discovered - currently not indexed” in Search Console, or no record yet | Submit a sitemap, request indexing for the homepage, wait **at least a week** | | WordPress “discourage search engines” box is ticked | Settings → Reading, a box like “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” | Untick it; the classic one, ticked during development and forgotten at launch | | robots.txt block | `yourdomain.com/robots.txt` contains `Disallow: /`; Search Console says “Blocked by robots.txt” | Remove the block | | noindex | `noindex` in the page source; Search Console says “Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag”. A wrong setting in an SEO plugin can apply it to a whole page type | Turn the setting off | | Page asks for a login, or the server refuses Googlebot | “Unauthorized request (401)”, “Blocked due to access forbidden (403)” or a server error (5xx) | Open access, check with your hosting provider | | Mistakes after a move | Domain, http/https or URL structure changed and old addresses don’t redirect | Set up permanent (301) redirects; check whether both the http and https versions appear in Google | | “Crawled - currently not indexed” | Google saw it but didn’t index it | Google says you don’t need to request a recrawl; make sure the content is original and useful, add internal links | | Manual action or security issue | The Manual Actions and Security Issues reports in Search Console | Follow the instructions in the reports; if you bought a used domain, a previous owner’s penalty may carry over | | URL removal request | An earlier approved removal request is still in effect | Revoke it in the removal tool | Status names match Google’s [Page indexing report help](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en); the details and fixes are there. ## If it’s indexed but I still can’t find it Now it’s a ranking problem. First search for your brand or domain name: if you appear for your brand but not for a general search like “web design istanbul”, that’s normal, there are dozens of competitors for that one. Check in order: - Does the phrase you want appear in the page title and the first paragraph? - Is there genuinely enough content for that search, or three sentences? If competitors say more, Google has no reason to pick you. - Do other pages on your site link to it? A page that can’t be reached from the homepage is harder for Google to find. - Technical condition: a [technical SEO audit](https://oguzerol.com/en/technical-seo-audit/) measures this. Running ads won’t fix your organic position; ads buy visibility for that day, and the two systems work separately. ## How long should I wait According to Google, a new page can take anywhere from a day or two to a few weeks to be crawled and indexed; after submitting a sitemap or an indexing request, allow at least a week. Requesting indexing doesn’t guarantee an instant result. If it’s been more than a week and you see no blocker in the table above, read the status message in Search Console; it often has the answer. Reaching the top is a separate and much longer job; I compared [ads versus SEO](https://oguzerol.com/en/ranking-first-on-google/) on another page. ## If you want me to look I can map your indexing status and show you each blocker. You don’t have to pay to have a site added to Google; if someone offers a paid “submission service”, it’s being misrepresented. ### What does “Crawled - currently not indexed” mean? Google visited the page but didn’t index it. It may or may not index it later, and Google says you don’t need to request a recrawl. Check whether the page gives an original, useful answer and whether other pages on your site link to it. ### My business isn’t on Maps either, same problem? No, that’s a separate system. Map results come from your [Google Business Profile](https://oguzerol.com/en/my-business-isnt-showing-on-google-maps/), independent of whether your site is indexed. Work-hour packages Tell me about your business and what you need on WhatsApp or by phone; we agree on **a work block of somewhere between 5 and 40 hours** and I start doing what is needed. What you get is not a calendar window — it is net working hours spent directly on your business. I can use 40 hours working three days straight, or deliberately spread it out and finish it over a year — whatever the work calls for. I do not spend my time estimating how long something will take, I spend it doing the work; every hour I spend leaves a lasting result in your business. We keep going for as long as you find it useful. WORK BLOCKS ## Why not monthly? Is 40 hours a week? On a fixed monthly fee both sides are watching the wrong thing: you watch a fixed cost, the other side watches how many more contracts like this they can line up. Working by the hour puts us both in front of the same thing — the real value of the work that got done. I know not having an upfront answer to "how much will this cost in total?" is the natural cost of this model. But instead of paying a fixed fee for months to a setup that is not producing results, you only pay for the qualified time spent on your work — and you see exactly where that time went, start to finish.
